The Rocket Newsletter
September 2009
This month has seen plenty of new business wins for the Propellernet Team, so we've celebrated with a trip to the golf course and played volleyball on the beach. We're a healthy lot you know!
Back in the office we've been enjoying the company of our new summer intern Abbi, and we've found ourselves joining in the debate over the introduction of new Top Level Domains (TLDs). Imagine a world of propellernet.onlinemarketing, propellernet.onlinepr or even propellernet.brighton. Go on, have some fun thinking up your own TLDs.
That's all for now folks, see you next month.
Best Regards,

How PR can keep up with the social media trends?
Social Media: Use with Caution! We all heard David Cameron's advice about tweeting and read about the over zealous Habitat intern let loose on Twitter, but social media can play a vital, positive role in a brand's communication strategy. In this week's blog, Natalie Flynn talks about the wide world of social media, and how – if used effectively – it can really benefit a PR campaign, and communicate a the right brand message to all the right people.
New gTLDs on the horizon: So what are the possible SEO implications?
ICANN have revealed their plans to open up the available number of generic Top Level Domains, increasing the 21 currently available, such as .com, .net, and .org. Chris Clapham discusses the implications this has on the online world and the possible SEO impact. Let us know whether you think this liberalisation of the internet is a good thing, or will .anythingyoulike provoke mistrust in internet users?
Staff Profile
Name: Abbi Broadbent
Role: Marketing Intern
Why are you completing an internship?
I'm constantly being told that when I graduate in 2010 I'll face one of the worst job markets the country has seen; a daunting thought! So I decided to give myself a head start and fill my CV with something other than 'waitress' or 'retail assistant', as well as gain invaluable experience in the 'real world' that students dread so much! Top tip number one for any university newcomer: get valuable work experience BEFORE you graduate!
What is your favourite website or blog and why?
Ooo, it's got to be between www.whatkatiewore.co.uk and www.theuniformproject.com. Both websites are essentially the same: a picture blog of what two different women wear every day, but for the fashion conscious they're a must visit if you've got a spare five minutes.

- Propellernet Golf Championship and BBQ
Here's a joke: two men were playing golf, Mr Smith was playing quite well, and Mr Propellernet was playing not so well. Mr Smith enquired what Mr Propellernet's handicap was, and Mr Propellernet replied 'golf.' Enjoy the pictures. - Volleyball challenge
Summer is drawing to an end but the beach volleyball is still pulling us in. Are we any good? Actually we're better than we thought, reaching the semi-finals of the Brighton Business Volleyball Tournament last night! - Geek meets Chic for breakfast
Here at Propellernet, we love to catch up with what everyone is working on. This month has seen the introduction of fortnightly breakfast meetings where the Chic team the (PRs) recap with the Geeks (the search team) what they're up to, and vice versa.
