The Rocket Newsletter
July 2010
What a month of celebrations it's been! The World Cup has flown by and Spain's 1-0 victory over Holland in the final brought the tournament to a close, causing the travel industry to breathe a huge sigh of relief. "Why?" we hear you shout. Well, read Nat's blog post to find out why find out why you should adjust your online advertising around special events. Paul, the psychic octopus, will no doubt be celebrating alongside the Spanish having correctly predicted the outcome of the final and sparking a huge rise in searches for octopus-related terms!
Closer to home, we've been attempting to boost our own PR efforts recently and it seems to have paid off with an nma award win and a visit from the BBC – keep an eye on @propellernet on twitter to find out when you can watch this.
As a marketing agency we're huge advocates of self-promotion (surprise, surprise) and it's something a lot of organisations undervalue, so if you take one thing away from our newsletter this month, let it be the motivation to enter some awards for your organisation. Go forth and win!
Best Regards,

England's Loss is the Travel Industry's Gain
While the majority of the population were bitterly disappointed when the final whistle blew in the England vs. Germany game, a small minority were thrilled. Those working in the travel industry were amongst them. In Natalie's blog post, find out why travel brands were keener than most to see the England team fly home and how some were able to tap into the marketing potential of football's biggest tournament.
Propellernet wins Best Use of Search at the nma Awards!
Regular readers of our newsletter will be aware that we were very excited to be heading to the new media age Effectiveness Awards at the end of June. Well, we were even more excited when we won! Take a look at some of our photos from the event and details of the campaign that won the award, in Dave's blog post.
Staff Profile
Name: Emily Godwin
Role: Office Manager
What's your favourite website or blog and why?
It would have to be poppytalk.blogspot.com I've just bought a house, and am getting stuck in on the interior design front. This beautifully designed blog gives me loads of ideas and inspiration.
If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and what would say to them?
I'm fresh back from my 7th Glastonbury and I would have to say Michael Eavis - he's a bit of a hero of mine. I'd like to wander round the farm with him and hear about his experiences of running the festival over the years.
Are you mad - why manage Propellernet's entire office?
Browsing through the job description and the website, what immediately drew me to Propellernet was the way in which it motivates its employees by creating a positive, fun and rewarding working environment. As the new office manager I'm looking forward to supporting this ethos and getting to know the team.
