The Rocket Newsletter
July 2009
Summer time is here and we've been flexing the work hard, play hard mantra! Our 'Corporate Burnout' coverage on BBC News Online and the Observer for rehab centre The Causeway Retreat can be counted as a true PR victory. We've taken inspiration from this important issue, and spurred on by our seaside location, have decided to inject some more fun into the team with the launch of our wellbeing project. Our lunchtimes and evenings have been filled with stimulating activities such as flying kites, beach walks and barbecues as part of an ongoing project to refresh our minds and cleanse our souls. And during all this mayhem, a creative ball of energy boarded the rocket as well: Welcome to the team, Lucy Freeborn, our new creative director! Get the low down on Lucy in this month's staff profile.
Best Regards,

The PageRank sculpting and rel=nofollow debate rages on
SEO strategies everywhere are getting a bit of an overhaul and it's down to one man: Google's Matt Cutts. His recent comments on nofollow links being used in a PageRank sculpting context kicked up a storm and the debate is still raging. In this post, Nick Moores explains what it's all about and gives his own views on the subject.
Getting personal with your customers
Forget about ABC1s and C2DEs, do you know 'The Generous Granny' or 'Dave the Bachelor'? These days it's all about getting into the minds of individual customer personas. Who are they and where do they spend their time on the net? If you know that, you've got much more chance of reaching them with a tailored message. Our PR guru Natalie tells us why.
Online PR - Not just about relationships with the public
We secured some great online PR coverage for The Causeway Retreat from the online PR Holy Grail this month: BBC News Online! Find out here how we did it and why journalist relationships are so hard to build up and yet so essential to achieve great results.
