With less than ten days until the big man arrives and with 2011 fast approaching, here at Propellernet we’ve started to reflect on 2010 and what a year it has been!
So, sit back, get yourself a hot toddy and share with us some of the highlights at Propellernet Towers…
The year got off to a flying start with us moving from our rather tired offices in Hove and arriving at our bright, sparkly new office in January. Our Finance Director Jim Jensen headed up the project and we will all be eternally grateful for our beautiful creative space. Check out the making of video here.
In February our SEO-PR offering was really taking off, with a new brainstorm space and a strong team of six SEO-PR consultants, our clients were reaping the benefits. SportsShoes.com reached the No.1 position for ‘running shoes’ after some fantastic pieces of SEO-PR coverage on national newspaper sites in conjunction with expert technical SEO advice. We also kicked off our SEO-PR campaign for Hi-Tec.com which saw our wonderful relationship with outdoor key influencers begin. It wasn’t just the creative team that was thriving, Rik Turner, a Sussex University graduate with an Honours degree in Maths joined the intern programme. He made it through and is now our data wizard.
March saw Propellernet popping champagne with our first award win of the year. The travel team won ‘Best use of Search’ for their ‘Flourishing Families Campaign’ for Sovereign Luxury Holidays at the Travel Marketing Awards.
From celebration to crisis, Ashtrocity hit the travel industry so April was a busy month for the travel team supporting our clients who were affected by the mighty ash cloud. However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom, the skies were bright over Earls Court when Lucy and Gary presented at Internet World and Gary narrowly avoided falling off the stage when he excitedly presented SEO-PR: Strategic & Creative Link Development – take a look at the video here.
Video finally became a regular feature in Google’s universal search results in May which was perfect timing as it was also when we welcomed our new SEO video producer, Greg Brand to the team. He got straight to work in directing and producing the fantastic ‘How to Choose the Right Running Shoe’ video for SportsShoes.com which has already had a powerful impact on conversion.
In June, whilst the Conservatives and Lib Dems were busy battling it out in Parliament and England were providing a rather lacklustre performance in South Africa, we were taking on new staff at the Propellerplex; Isa Lavahun was dazzling the management team in order to secure a role as an SEO-PR consultant . She succeeded and hasn’t looked back to her life in Hollywood! Grant Jennings joined the team too, bringing a whole new SEO Design offering to the agency.
June also saw our second award win of the year with New Media Aage awarding us with the ‘Effectiveness Award for Best Use of SEO’ for our work with SportsShoes.com. More champagne please!
July is when things really got exciting and Nikki Winton joined us from TMW as our new Client Services Director and made an immediate positive impact at Propellernet. Her good impressions didn’t end there, in August she wowed the crowds when she won best hat at The Brighton Races Ladies Day out! There was also a sense of calm brought to the office with the new presence of office manager and general god-send Emily- she has had to deal with power cuts, printer problems and pinched laptops since starting, but always with a smile on her face.
September brought more celebrations and more champagne as the travel team brought home a Travolution award for the ‘Best Use of SEO’ for their work with To Tuscany. The lovely Vicky joined the team too, leaving Google to be our People Director, as well as London College of Fashion graduate Megan Hart who joined the SEO-PR girls on the retail team.
Elsewhere, the retail girls got stuck in to Westfield’s Chic Car Boot event- inviting lots of fashion bloggers down and securing some fantastic coverage in the meantime. It also gave us a chance to produce a second ‘hotspotted’ video; we took videos of the fashion shows that were held as part of the event and made them clickable and it went down a treat! Check them out here.
In between carving pumpkin heads and making jam in October, some of the team headed to London for two days of knowledge sharing at the SEO Moz Pro SEO seminars. We heard some great stuff, but above all it confirmed that our creative approach to link development and SEO is unique and that we’re on a great path.
November brought an office re-shuffle and the arrival of new desks, as the team continued to grow with Laura Johnson joining the travel team as an SEO-PR consultant. There were new arrivals elsewhere as Jack became a dad! Since then, we’ve also welcomed Liam, Wilky, James and Ben to the team in various roles so the desks are filling up fast!
We’ve barely had a chance to catch our breath with all these changes- but here we are, already mid-way through December with Christmas rapidly approaching. We’ve had our Christmas party, and a second celebration with clients and so we approach the New Year full of excitement as to what 2011 will bring us… more champagne would go down a treat!
