On Monday 15th of March a few of the Propellernet team travelled to the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London for an evening of glamour, cocktails and posh nosh and came home with a cube-shaped bright pink Travel Marketing Award (which happens to look completely at home in our colourful office.)
Judged by movers and shakers in the travel, creative and marketing industries; the Travel Marketing Awards recognise, reward and showcase the best and most innovative work across the sector. The Flourishing Family campaign we ran for Sovereign Luxury Holidays was the winning entry in the Search Engine Optimisation category and judges were impressed with the results we achieved with our unique blend of SEO PR. In a nutshell, here’s what we did…
O
ur (also award-winning) innovative approach to search engine optimisation uses our strategic planning tools: Revenue Potential Model (RPM) and Persona Insight. With the help of our RPM, we saw that there was significant revenue potential around the key terms ‘family holiday’ and ‘luxury family holidays’; while our persona insight research identified the ‘Flourishing Family’. We engaged this persona by creating a page with ‘Top Tips for Travelling with Children’ on the Sovereign website and pitching related editorial features to websites like toffsworld.com, with links back to Sovereign. We also pushed family holiday offers via Propellernet’s exclusive travel journalists twitter feed, which resulted in national coverage on sites such as DailyMail.co.uk, TimesOnline.co.uk and Guardian.co.uk.
The top line result? Sovereign shot up to number one in Google for the search term ‘luxury family holiday’, resulting in a significant increase in the proportion of Sovereign holidays booked online - and a lovely pink Travel Marketing SEO award, which now sits in our awards cabinet.
Runners up in the SEO category were Bigmouthmedia (2nd place) with their Multinational SEO Campaign for Europcar and Guava (3rd place) with their Improve Position in the Travel Insurance Sector campaign for the Post Office.
We’re obviously super chuffed and will continuing to explore the vast galaxy that is SEO PR – watch this space, because we’re inviting you to come along for the ride!

Our lovely, pink Travel Marketing Award!

Hi - just seen this! Well done - thoroughly deserved.
I may not be Sovereign anymore but this still makes me smile.
You’re going to need a bigger trophy cabinet!

[...] At the beginning it was often just like a show and tell; the PRs would show how we would sell into a journalist, the SEO guys showed us widgets, we demonstrated how we would negotiate anchor text on big media sites and the SEOs showed us the potential revenue attached to those terms. Before we knew it the SEO-PR galaxy was born, achieving brilliant results for our clients and winning awards. [...]
